Dewey Lyle (Dewitt Wagner Lyle) was born on March 23, 1891 in , MN. After going to high school at Central (Minneapolis, MN), Lyle attended the University of Minnesota. Lyle made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Rock Island Independents. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Rock Island Independents the entire time. Lyle also played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the Green Bay Packers and Rock Island Independents over the course of his 2 year NFL career.
