Detroit Tigers, the best record in MLB

I cannot believe that with the All-Star break fast approaching the Detroit Tigers are sitting with the best record in the major leagues. It wasn't that many years ago that the Tigers were flirting with the worst, breaking the record for the most losses in a season, and now they are 29 games over .500 with a record of 57-28.

You won't find many of the hitters tops in many offensive categories, but you will find something much more important; Tiger pitchers in the upper end of many of the pitching categories. Two Tiger pitchers have 10 or more wins and Jeremy Bonderman is in the Top 10 in strikeouts.

Hopefull, the Tigers can avoid a collapse of monumental proportions and make the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.

I think the Tigers are for real. Took a couple of years, but I think they are ready to make a run.

It seems the biggest difference is in our pitching staff, it has been a while since we had two 10 game winners at this point in the season. Go Tigers!!!!

The Tigers have been absolutely dominant. Their run differential is the best in the majors. The only other "out-of-nowhere" sports team I can compare them to is the `99 Rams, who went from 3-13 to 13-3.

I don't see a meltdown either, but I worry about them in the playoffs. I think the long season will wear down some of the younger guys and their inexperience will cost them come playoff time.

Watch out, they come to Seattle for a monumental three game set with the M's. Go M's!

I have been following the Tiger's all my life and I have seen too many meltdowns to be to positive yet.

I still don't believe in them....but then again I'm the guy who didn't believe in the White Sox last year until the final out of the World Series.

I can definitely understand where you are coming from and I won't believe it the last out.
