Detroit Lions: How many ways can you say it?

The Detroit Lions and Lions fans are running out of things to say - scratch that, HAVE run out of things to say. We had a great start to the season and there was some real excitement in the air that turned a little sour after we lost to the Giants and really plummeted after we threw away a lead against the Cowboys.
For Detroiters, and for Lions fans casual and otherwise, the Lions' performance has been a 20-year litany of saying the same thing over and over. It goes something like this: "Gee, we've got so many great things going for us. We've got X. We've got Y. We're having great practices. We look great. Why can't we get it together? I guess we're just not performing."
That's the part we hear the most. We're not performing. John Kitna, whom I like, has said it before and he said it again after Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He said they've been having great practices, they have a great team. It's just not there when you need it.
For most Detroit fans, that's obvious. The question is, When will it change? What will change it? Various answers have been offered in the past - a new QB, the right receivers, fire the coach, sack the GM. Everyone has their own particular take on the formula.
I see it as way more complicated than that. Almost metaphysical. I think things have just got to sync for this team cosmically. They just have to line up in a way or ways you can't put your finger on. Maybe that's silly of me, to get superstitious instead of carefully analyzing and offering my armchair opinion on how things should be done, but I can't help feeling this way. We've got a great bunch of players, great coach, great fans. When the wheels turn for us, we really roll. We just... don't. The thousand things that make a winning team just haven't meshed together yet.
When will they? I don't know. It's all football voodoo to me. And in the meantime, I remain a fan of a perpetually losing team. Many other fans of many other franchises in many other sports know exactly how I feel.
