Denny Sothern (Dennis Elwood Sothern) was born on January 20, 1904 in Washington, D.C.. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1926 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .285 with 5 home runs and 38 RBI. Sothern played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Denny Sothern's best season was 1928, when he hit for a .285 average.
