Denny Lyons (Dennis Patrick Aloysius Lyons) was born on March 12, 1866 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on September 18, 1885 for the Providence Grays. In 1887, his rookie year, he hit .367 with 6 home runs and 102 RBI. Lyons played for the Providence Grays, Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Browns, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Perfectos over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Denny Lyons's best season was 1887, when he stole 73 bases, hit for a .367 average and knocked in 102 runs.
