Dennis Nelson (Dennis Ray Nelson) was born on February 2, 1946 in Kewanee, Illinois. After going to high school at Weathersfield (Kewanee, IL), Nelson attended Illinois State University. Nelson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1970 with the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Baltimore Colts and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1971 was Dennis Nelson's best year.
