COMCAST V BIG TEN NETWORK
I don't know about the rest of the country but for those of us who live in Michigan, there's been a huge debate/fight about Comcast Cable. Here's the issue; there's a new network out that specializes in Big Ten Sports - basketball, hockey even football & others the problem is the Big Ten Network IS NOT part of the standard cable package for Comcast customers in Michigan. So people like myself and my brother in-law that want to see the U of M Wolverines football are screwed. in the last 2 weeks, both the U of M games and the Michigan State games have been on the Big Ten Network and we have been unable to watch them.
The Big Ten Network is part of the standard package for WOW Cable, Direct TV and the Dish Network so why not Comcast? Comcast is claiming "we carry over 150 Big Ten games a year". Really Comcast? Oh yeah - I believe they (Comcast) did carry the Illini v Syracuse game & Purdue v Buffalo game, while those might have been ok teams or games to watch, it's still NOT MICHIGAN FOOTBALL!
Our local affiliate, Channel 7, had the Ball St v Central Michigan game. No offense, scratch that - big offense here Comcast - that's NOT Michigan State or U of M! When it comes to the following games; Michigan v Michigan State, Michigan v Ohio State & Michigan State v Ohio State games, people like myself and virtually half the state of Michigan with Comcast Cable are royally screwed when it comes to watching these... unless we all go to a local sports bar that has the Big Ten Network. That's a shame Comcast - a real shame!
There is only one winner here in this debate - and that's the MAC Confrence. Because of this big debate with The Big Ten Network, Comcast has decided to air MAC games here in the Detroit area. Personally, I could care less who gives in this war but please make the decision soon - there is a lot of people here that are severly pissed off and we would like to watch something that resembles a Michigan State or a U of M game.
