Del Unser (Delbert Bernard Unser) was born on December 9, 1944 in Decatur, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 10, 1968 for the Washington Senators. In 1968, his rookie year, he hit .230 with 1 home run and 30 RBI and was voted Topps Rookie Of The Year based primarily on his defensive play. He had 22 assists and 10 double plays from his center field position. Unser played for the Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets and Montreal Expos over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that Del Unser's best season was 1969, when he hit for a .286 average, knocked in 57 runs and led the league in triples with 8.

He once hit homeruns in 3 consecutive pinch hitting appearances as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.

His father,Al Unser,was a major league catcher.
