Del Pratt (Derrill Burnham Pratt) was born on January 10, 1888 in Walhalia, South Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 11, 1912 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1912, his rookie year, he hit .302 with 5 home runs and 69 RBI. Pratt played for the St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 13 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Del Pratt's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1922, when he hit for a .301 average and knocked in 86 runs. However, others believe that it was 1914, when he stole 37 bases, hit for a .283 average and knocked in 65 runs. Another season that some believe was Del Pratt's best was 1920, when he hit for a .314 average and knocked in 97 runs.
