Del Ennis (Delmer Ennis) was born on June 8, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 28, 1946 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1946, his rookie year, he hit .313 with 17 home runs and 73 RBI. Ennis played for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 14 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Del Ennis's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1950, when he slugged 31 home runs, hit for a .311 average and knocked in 126 runs. However, others believe that it was 1949, when he slugged 25 home runs, hit for a .302 average and knocked in 110 runs.
