Deion Branch Goes to Seattle

12
Vote

The New England Patriots have resolved the Deion Branch situation, shipping the disgruntled WR to Seattle for the reigning NFC champions' 2007 first round pick.

Nate Burleson must be pissed.

Interesting that the Pats demanded and got a first round pick for Branch but refused to pay him like one.

That's why they've been so good for so long, they're amazing business people.

I had heard they originally wanted a first-rounder AND MORE... perhaps another first-day pick? The first trade demands I heard seemed astronomical. Relative to that, one first-rounder seems like a bit of a settlement.

there was some other 'business' behind the scenes with Branch

good move, now they should trade up next year to nab Jeff Somarja. Imagine that. Brady to Somarja for a TD. 4 Words to describe the Pats. 3 in a row.

A potential problem: Deion Branch and Nate Burleson are both getting paid more than Darrell Jackson, Seattle's #1 wide receiver.

Why would they get Samardjzia (baseball v. football) when they could pick up Dwayne Jarrett or Calvin Johnson ( who are better players)?

No one knows how well any of the college star recievers will adjust to the NFL; see the Lions' three #1 draft picks.

Maybe Seattle can just give up all their picks for WRs? What did they lose in compensation for Nate Burleson? Branch is a quality WR, but he is NOT worth a 1st round pick. He is not an elite WR, he's in the tier below that. I jsut wonder how much he can impact the Seahawks in the first half of this year having not stepped on the practice field since last year...

I bet the Hawks wish they could drop Nate and use his money to resign Hutchinson.

except the Vikings outsmarted the Seahawks with his contract - his contract had stipulations giving him SERIOUS tax benefits by NOT playing games in the State of Washington, was a brilliant move by the Vikes because the Seahawks COULDN'T match it.

Under the contract, Hutch loses over 50% of his paycheck for all games played in Washington. Gee, would YOU come back to the Seahawks?

Then the Seahawks played we'll show you by signing Burleson to a STUPID contract for the same money as Hutch. Double Whammy... derrrr!
