I, Widening Geier, being of sound mind and body, do hereby propose to relate an opinion regarding baseball. I offer this information freely, as it has not been given under duress.
My primary contention is that the playoff position which is awarded to the team with the best record in the league which does not win its division (hereafter referred to as the wild card) will be a compelling pursuit in both the National and American Leagues.
After venturing forth that I believe the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres will win their respective divisions Wild Cards, I propose to inquire of the other readers and contributors to this site as to their opinions upon the same subject. If other readers are so inclined, and would care to participate in this free exchange of ideas, kindly relate your opinions below.
I think Boomer and Peavy will be a tough match-up in the NL down the stretch, and the defending champs have their say.
