Born on September 1, 1930 in Moline, Illinois, Dean Stone (Darragh Dean Stone) played for the Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Colt .45s, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 8 year career. Stone broke into the bigs on September 13, 1953 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 3.22 ERA in 178.2 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dean Stone's best season was 1954, when he posted a 3.22 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 87 batters.
