Dean Lombardi aka The Genius!

Good job Deano, year to year you impress me more. I don't know why it took so long for the incompetent Dave Taylor to finally be relieved of his duties and make way for you. Amazingly he got another job in Dallas; proving that the NHL is a stagnant gentleman's club where who you know matters, now what you do, or what you know. Taylor is clueless, Storr, Fiset, trading away Jokinen, Blake, letting Robitaille go a second time prove that- his playoff track record solidifies in stone his incompetence.

But you Deano. You understood right away how to continue the fine tradition of underachievment we have in place here. Immediately you stocked the Kings with your former cronies, McCauley, Thornton and overpaid for them why not. You let Crawford follow suit and bring in Cloutier, the Achilles' heel on what was a Vancouver team destined for the Cup; when Bertz, Morrisson, Naslund were dominant- Cloutier stood in the way giving 50 foot long goals away to completely obliterate the team's momentum.

You told us that now we finally have a goaltender. Proven 30 game winner. Cloutier was the Nucks' Hrudey, the reason they didn't win 2 or 3 cups. So you basically said Garon and LaBarbera were worthless. Okay. A year later, Cloutier is untradeable and now all of a sudden LaBarbera is your goalie, maybe a kid Bernier.

Then you rinse, lather and repeat your sterling free agency protocol and throw money at third liners like Calder. You sign Nagy who immediately and deservedly becomes a healthy scratch. You bring in journeyman Handsuz. Then you realize that Anaheim has been winning with a guy named JS. You know Aebischer and most other available goalies are bad so you sign the worst one, JS Aubin. Why not. With a name like JS maybe he can be a winner.

How do I describe your moves? Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Enjoy this season, because in a perfect world it would be your last. Robitaille is waiting in the wings baby! Crawford is a decent coach but he might get blamed for some of your horrendously gross incompetence.

How much do you want to bet that Nagy and all your brilliant signings will be gone by the Deadline, just like last year?

Before you get fired and don't sweat it too much, knowing AEG they might wait 10 years until they fire you do something for me... They will credit you for the young guys- I'm waiting on Hickey though. This is what you can do: Trade Cammalleri, Kopitar or any other guy showing decent potential just as they are about to hit their prime- this is what the Kings do best and are known for. Then leave a note asking the next GM to bring them back when they are 38 and have won cups with other teams. The blueprint is there, look up McSorley, Blake, Robitaille, Modry...

I am giving Olli Jokinen 3-4 years before they bring him back. He'll immediately know he's a King and stop skating hard, stop scoring, kind of just go through the motions and look forward to the great weather and amazing nightlife in LA.
