Dean Derby (Clarence Dean Derby) was born on July 11, 1935 in Leavenworth, Washington. After going to high school at Walla Walla (WA), Derby attended the University of Washington. Derby made his professional debut in the NFL in 1957 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1959 was Dean Derby's best year, as he picked off 7 passes.
