Born on March 4, 1891 in Orient, Iowa, Dazzy Vance (Clarence Arthur Vance) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Brooklyn Robins, Brooklyn Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 16 year career. Vance broke into the bigs on April 16, 1915 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.70 ERA in 245.2 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dazzy Vance's best season was 1924, when he posted a 2.16 ERA, won 28 games and struck out 262 batters.
