David Wright takes another step towards superstardom

Last night with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the 9th, David Wright hit a double off Mariano Rivera to win the game in dramatic fashion for the Mets.

It was intense. It was exciting. I loved how Wright hit the ball, and in Carlton Fisk fashion, tried to wave the ball out of the ballpark. You can be sure SNY will use that clip for years to come. Granted, this is just a meaningless game in May, but I think it showed the beginnings of a changing of the guard in NY. Not only for this again becoming a Mets town, but also a David Wright town.

The "go, go" he was yelling as he hopped toward first was awesome. If it were the WS, it'd be perfectly Fiskian.

Hey I am a huge Mets fan, and David Wright looks like he has a great future and is already showing it, but we just need to get someone to work with him on his fielding skills. How about hiring Robin Ventura to teach David Wright the finer points in defensive prowess.

He can field, but at times it appears that he has some mental lapses out there. Look at A-Rod, or should we call him E-Rod, he's already got 8 errors

I can't see Ventura, an ex-Yankee, coaching anyone in the Mets.

Can you see Vebtura, the former Met who hit the walk off grand slam single to beat the Braves, coaching the Mets?

Wright is a great player, but Rivera struck him out swinging the next day in 2 innings of scoreless relief.

Wright allowed two runs to score this afternoon. He got back one of them with a solo shot. He is an excellent offensive player, but if he doesn't work on his fielding, he may become a liability.
