Born on June 17, 1983 in Longmont, Colorado, David Pauley (David Wayne Pauley) played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 1 year career. Pauley broke into the bigs on May 31, 2006 with the Boston Red Sox.

Pauley's stuff won't blow anyone away, but he has three solid pitches. His fastball sits around 88-92, he's consistant with his curveball, and his changeup has good movement. He throws strikes and is often around the strikezone too much. He doesn't walk many, but he also doesn't miss a lot of bats. His ceiling is probably that of a 4th or 5th starter.

Postseason hero Dave Roberts was dealt to San Diego after the 2004 season because the Red Sox had no room for him in their line up. The deal looked to be a steal at the time as they got three players in return for a guy whose only assett is his speed. But neither Jay Payton or Ramon Vazquez worked out very well and both were shipped out during the 2005 season leaving Pauley as the only part of the deal that the Red Sox still have.

Pauley has a 3.92 ERA in 575.2 IP over 5 years of pro ball. Last year he reached AA for the first time and spent the year giving Portland 156 solid innings with a 3.81 ERA. He started 27 games, won 9 of them, and lost 7. He struck out 104 and walked only 34. The 18 home runs he allowed was a little bit troublesome. The most he had ever allowed in a year had been 9 prior to 2005.
