David Bell (David Michael Bell) was born on September 14, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on May 3, 1995 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1995, his rookie year, he hit .247 with 2 home runs and 19 RBI. Bell played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that David Bell's best season was 1999, when he slugged 21 home runs and knocked in 78 runs.

Bell was also one of the players named in baseball's Mitchell Report. Bell's name is mentioned under the "Alleged Internet Purchases" section of the report. According to the report, Bell was named in a March 6, 2007 Sports Illustrated article as one of the players on the customer list of Applied Pharmacy Services of Mobile, Alabama. The article goes on to state that in 2005, Bell bought 6 packages of human chorionic gonadatropin (HCG), a hormone produced during pregnancy that many steroid users to act against the effects of steroid use on testosterone production.

Bell received the drugs through a prescription by an Arizona anti-aging clinic. Bell reportedly admitted to reporters that he did receive the drugs, but he claimed that he had a medical condition that warranted the use of the drugs. He refused to elaborae, citing medical privacy laws.
