Born on August 30, 1872 in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, Davey Dunkle (Edward Perks Dunkle) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 5 year career. Dunkle broke into the bigs on August 28, 1897 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.48 ERA in 62 innings pitched in 1897, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Davey Dunkle's best season was 1903, when he posted a 4.16 ERA and struck out 77 batters.
