Born on June 18, 1962 in Whittier, California, Dave Leiper (David Paul Leiper) played for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 8 year career. Leiper broke into the bigs on September 2, 1984 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 3.95 ERA in 68.1 innings pitched in 1987, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dave Leiper's best season was 1988, when he posted a 2.17 ERA.
