Born on May 14, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dave LaRoche (David Eugene LaRoche) played for the California Angels, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees over the course of his 14 year career. LaRoche broke into the bigs on May 11, 1970 with the California Angels, and put up a 2.50 ERA in 72 innings pitched in 1971, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Dave LaRoche's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1978, when he posted a 2.82 ERA, won 10 games, notched 25 saves and struck out 70 batters. However, others believe that it was 1976, when he posted a 2.24 ERA, notched 21 saves and struck out 104 batters.
