Born on April 22, 1957 in Niles, Michigan, Dave J. Schmidt (David Joseph Schmidt) played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 12 year career. Schmidt broke into the bigs on May 1, 1981 with the Texas Rangers, and put up a 3.20 ERA in 109.2 innings pitched in 1982, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dave J. Schmidt's best season was 1984, when he posted a 2.56 ERA and notched 12 saves.
