Born on August 25, 1950 in Ellensburg, Washington, Dave Heaverlo (David Wallace Heaverlo) played for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 7 year career. Heaverlo broke into the bigs on April 14, 1975 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 2.39 ERA in 64 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Dave Heaverlo's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1978, when he posted a 3.25 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 71 batters. However, others believe that it was 1977, when he posted a 2.55 ERA and struck out 58 batters.
