Born on November 27, 1939 in Seneca Falls, New York, Dave Giusti (David John Giusti) played for the Houston Colt .45s, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 15 year career. Giusti broke into the bigs on April 13, 1962 with the Houston Colt .45s, and put up a 5.62 ERA in 73.2 innings pitched in 1962, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Dave Giusti's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1970, when he posted a 3.06 ERA, notched 26 saves and struck out 85 batters. However, others believe that it was 1972, when he posted a 1.93 ERA, notched 22 saves and struck out 54 batters.
