Dave Finzer (David M. Finzer) was born on February 3, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Loyola Academy (Chicago, IL), Finzer attended Depauw University and the University of Illinois. Finzer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1984 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears over the course of his 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1984 was Dave Finzer's best year, as he dropped 26 punts inside the 20 and had a 40.1 yard punt average.
