Dave Birdsall (David Solomon Birdsall) was born on July 16, 1838 in New York, New York. He made his Major League debut on May 5, 1871 for the Boston Red Stockings. In 1871, his rookie year, he hit .303 with 0 home runs and 24 RBI. Birdsall played for the Boston Red Stockings for his entire 3 year career.
