[edit] Biography

Born on April 25, 1966 in Asheville, North Carolina, Darren Holmes (Darren Lee Holmes) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 13 year career. Holmes broke into the bigs on September 1, 1990 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 4.72 ERA in 76.1 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Darren Holmes's best season was 1993, when he posted a 4.05 ERA, notched 25 saves and struck out 60 batters.

Holmes was one of the players named in baseball's Mitchell Report. His name appears under the "Alleged Internet Purchase" section of the report. On March 8, 2007, Sports Illustrated published an article in which it revealed that in 2003, Holmes had purchased HGH and testosterone from the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center. Holmes admitted that he had purchased the HGH (but that he had never used it), but he claims that he did not order the testosterone.
