Danny Murtaugh (Daniel Edward Murtaugh) was born on October 8, 1917 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on July 6, 1941 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1941, his rookie year, he hit .219 with 0 home runs and 11 RBI. Murtaugh played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Danny Murtaugh's best season was 1948, when he hit for a .290 average and knocked in 71 runs.
