Danny McManus
[edit] BiographyAcquired Traded to Calgary Stampeders on March 31, 2006 from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for the Stampeders' third round draft pick in the 2006 Canadian College Draft. McManus completed 203 of 364 for 2544 yards (54.4%) with 11 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions with Hamilton. On August 8th he threw for 440 yards, completing 20 of 29 pass attempts, three touchdowns and one interception...he followed this up with another strong outing against the Toronto Argonauts completing 22 of 33 passes for 198 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Started all 18 games and one playoff game with Hamilton. Finished fourth in the league with 5,034 yards passing. It was the second time in his career that he had over 5,000 yards passing in a season. He became only the third player in CFL history to pass for 50,000 yards in their career, joining Ron Lancaster and Damon Allen. He also set a new Tiger-Cat season record with 29 touchdown passes, breaking his own previous record of 28 in 1999. Threw for the second most yards in Ti-Cat history when he completed 23 of 44 passes for 525 yards and three touchdowns on June 25 vs. Winnipeg. Played in the final 15 games of the regular season with Hamilton after missing the first three due to a knee injury suffered in pre-season. Completed 221 of 416 passes for 2, 869 yards and nine touchdowns. Supassed Bernie Faloney's Tiger-Cat record of 121 career touchdown passes on September 6 vs. Ottawa. Started 18 games with Hamilton, completing 318 of 604 pass attempts for 4,531 yards, which was third best in the league and extended his CFL record to eight consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing. On July 25 vs. Ottawa, Danny completed 29 of 51 attempts for a career high 513 yards and three touchdowns. It was only the third time in franchise history to reach the 500 yards passing plateau in a game (Anothony Calvillo did it the other two times in 1996). McManus threw his 200th touchdown pass on September 8 vs. Montreal. He surpassed Doug Flutie (41,355) for third place on the CFL's all-time passing list on September 22 vs. Toronto. Started 17 regular season games and two playoff games with Hamilton. Danny finished the season with 19 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions. He was second in the CFL with 4,465 yards passing, extending his CFL record with his seventh consecutive season with a minimum of 4,000 yards passing. He had a single-season career high 78 yards rushing on 21 carries and three touchdowns. He jumped into seventh place on the CFL's career regular season list for yards passing with 15 completions in 23 tries for 195 yards and one touchdown on September 8 in Winnipeg. Danny established a Hamilton career record for yards passing with 16 completions in 31 attempts for 294 yards and one touchdown on October 8 vs. Calgary. Started 16 games and the East Championship with Hamilton. Finished the regular season with 271 completions in 516 attempts for 4,200 yards, 21 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. Passed for at least 300 yards in seven games this season, surpassing the 400-yard mark in three of them. Started all 18 games, both playoffs and the Grey Cup with Hamilton. Led the CFL with 28 touchdown passes and 5,334 yards passing. Set single-season team records for yards passing, attempts, completions and touchdown passes. Was the CFL's Most Outstanding player and East Division Most Outstanding Player. He also earned his first career Eastern Divison All-Star selection and was Hamilton's nominee for the Tom Pate Memorial Award. He was the Grey Cup MVP in Hamilton's vistory over Calgary, completing 22 of 34 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns. Signed as a free agent with Hamilton on February 26. Started all 18 games, both playoff games and the Grey Cup. He finished third in the CFL with 4,864 yards passing, third with 24 touchdown passes and fifth in quarterback efficiency rating (84.2). Started 15 regular season games and two playoff games with Edmonton. Finished the season with 4,099 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes. In the season-opener vs. Calgary, Danny had the second highest single-game total in Eskimo history with 33 completions on 46 attempts for 497 yards. Signed with Edmonton as a free agent in April following his release from the B.C. Lions. Danny played 17 regular season games, two playoff games and the Grey Cup. He was second in the CFL with 4,425 yards passing and was third in the league with 310 completions in 582 attempts. In his first season as a full-time starter in B.C., Danny completed 295 of his 581 passes for a career high 4,655 yards and 19 touchdowns, finishing the season in second place in completions and yards passing. He passed for over 300 yards in six games. McManus also started in the Northern Division Semifinal. Played in 18 games during the regular season, completing 79 of 159 pass attemps for 1,258 yards and eight touchdowns. McManus also appeared in two playoff games and the Grey Cup. Signed as a free agent with B.C. in June and played in 18 regular season games. Finished the season with 114 of 223 pass attemps for 1,613 yards and ten touchdowns. Danny dressed as Danny Barrett's backup in the Western Semifinal. Played in all 18 regular season games with Winnipeg, completing 56 of his 122 pass attempts for 1,153 yards and six touchdowns. Dressed for the Eastern Final victory over Hamilton and came off the bench to complete seven of his 18 pass attempts for 155 yards and one touchdown in relief of Matt Dunigan in their Grey Cup loss to Calgary. Dressed for all 18 games with Winnipeg, including the first two starts of his career. He completed 54 of 119 attempts for 985 yards and three touchdowns. Danny also dressed for both Eastern Division playoff games. Signed as a free agent with Winnipeg in May. Dressed for all 18 regular season games. He completed 55 of 133 passes for 946 yards and seven touchdowns. Played his first game on July 27 vs. B.C., completing five of eight passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns. His first CFL touchdown pass was a 73-yarder to Eric Streater. In the Grey Cup, he completed both of his passes for 56 yards and a one-yard touchdown pass. College The three-time letterman played four seasons (1984-1987) at Florida State University. In 27 career games, McManus completed 248 passes in 455 attempts for 3,390 yards and 25 touchdowns. Twice was named Player of the Year and was the MVP of the 1988 Fiesta Bowl. McManus attended South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida where he passed for 1,400 yards as a senior and 1,300 as a junior. Other Selected in the 11th round (282 overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was their third-string quarterback in all 16 games during the regular season, but did not see any action. The following season (1989) Danny was released by the Chiefs during training camp.
