Danny Litwhiler (Daniel Webster Litwhiler) was born on August 31, 1916 in Ringtown, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 25, 1940 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .345 with 5 home runs and 17 RBI. Litwhiler played for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Braves and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Danny Litwhiler's best season was 1941, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .305 average and knocked in 66 runs.
