Born on October 25, 1955 in Bonham, Texas, Danny Darwin (Daniel Wayne Darwin) played for the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 21 year career. Darwin broke into the bigs on September 8, 1978 with the Texas Rangers, and put up a 4.04 ERA in 78 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Danny Darwin's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1980, when he posted a 2.63 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 104 batters. However, others believe that it was 1990, when he posted a 2.21 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 109 batters. Another season that some believe was Danny Darwin's best was 1989, when he posted a 2.36 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 104 batters.
