Born on March 23, 1942 in Lincoln, Maine, Danny Coombs (Daniel Bernard Coombs) played for the Houston Colt .45s, Houston Astros and San Diego Padres over the course of his 9 year career. Coombs broke into the bigs on September 27, 1963 with the Houston Colt .45s, and put up a 3.30 ERA in 188.1 innings pitched in 1970, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Danny Coombs's best season was 1970, when he posted a 3.30 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 105 batters.
