Dan Neal (Thomas Daniel Neal) was born on August 30, 1949 in Corbin, Kentucky. After going to high school at Atherton (Louisville, KY), Neal attended the University of Kentucky. Neal made his professional debut in the NFL in 1973 with the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1974 was Dan Neal's best year.

Neal was a special teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1986, and later went on to be an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills' tight ends coach.
