Dan James (Daniel Anthony James) was born on August 10, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio. After going to high school at Elder (Cincinnati, OH), James attended Ohio State University. James made his professional debut in the NFL in 1960 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears over the course of his 8 year career.
