Born on March 7, 1888 in Centerville, Tennessee, Dan Griner (Donald Dexter Griner) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 6 year career. Griner broke into the bigs on August 17, 1912 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.17 ERA in 54 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dan Griner's best season was 1914, when he posted a 2.51 ERA and struck out 74 batters.
