Dale Long (Richard Dale Long) was born on February 6, 1926 in Springfield, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 21, 1951 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1955, his rookie year, he hit .291 with 16 home runs and 79 RBI. Long played for the St. Louis Browns, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Washington Senators over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Dale Long's best season was 1956, when he slugged 27 home runs and knocked in 91 runs.
