Born on February 18, 1880 in Allegan, Michigan, Dad Hale (Ray Luther Hale) played for the Boston Beaneaters and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 1 year career. Hale broke into the bigs on April 21, 1902 with the Boston Beaneaters, and put up a 5.90 ERA in 61 innings pitched in 1902, his rookie year.
