Born on August 31, 1866 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dad Clarkson (Arthur Hamilton Clarkson) played for the New York Giants, Boston Beaneaters, St. Louis Perfectos and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 6 year career. Clarkson broke into the bigs on August 20, 1891 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.48 ERA in 186.1 innings pitched in 1893, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dad Clarkson's best season was 1893, when he posted a 3.48 ERA and won 12 games.
