The Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers completed a deal today to send Johnny Estrada, Claudio Vargas, and Greg Aquino to the Brewers while the snakes got Doug Davis, Dana Eveland, and David Krynzel.
The 30 year old former All-Star catcher Estrada bated .302 with 11 dingers and 71 RBI this past year with the D-Backs. Estrada expected to be traded this off-season saying after the September call-up of catching prospect Miguel Montero that he could quote, "see the writing on the walls". 28 year old RHP Claudio Vargas went 12-10 with a 4.83 ERA and is best described as unreliable and excruciatingly slow. And 28 year old RHP Greg Aquino who could give some late inning reliability to the Brewers.
The 31 year old LHP Doug Davis has been a workhorse having started the second most number of games in the past few years behind only D-Back Livan Hernandez. Davis also has a home in Phoenix. 23 year old Dana Eveland pitched well in the minors but was killed in his major league appearances. And 25 year old David Krynzel who plays a great D but has trouble with the bat. The Brewers were POed with him because he neglected to tell them that he had broken his collarbone.
