For the Price of This, You Could Have a Game 1 NLCS Ticket. Honestly.
This was originally posted on my blog, The Legend of Cecilio Guante, here. Stop by and check it out and more. Promise, there's decent stuff. We think...
I was about to make a turn...I really was...throughout this week, I've been wallowing in the self-pity of a Mets-Jets fan and bemoaning the lack of sports entertainment on the tube and the prospects for the rest of fall. And, finally, I was about to break out. Because, damn it, I'm a sports fan! I love baseball, and it's playoff time. Tommy Lasorda reminded me of all of that last year. So what if it's the D-Backs/Rockies. What's my real issue with those teams besides my East Coast bias, right? Well, Arizona, we now have a problem.
Just as I readied myself for a fundamental philisophical turn, I read this. That's right. As of this morning, there are nearly 4,000 tickets left to tonight's Game 1 at Chase Field. GAME ONE OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES AT HOME. What's more tickets are going for as low as $16.50 on StubHub (a few hours ago they were $10, so those D-Back fanatics must really be stepping it up).
Arizona Diamondbacks "fans"...one word...pathetic. If this game one was taking place in Philly, Chicago, NY, heck, even Denver, you couldn't get a ticket for the PARKING LOT for $16.50. You should be embarrassed, humiliated and appalled. You wonder why you don't get the reputation for being a decent sports town? Exhibit A: you don't sell out playoff games.
Really, this makes me thoroughly angry. I can't get a pastrami on Rye for $10 and a D-Backs fan can shell out one Alexander Hamilton and be watching their team play in game 1 of the NLDS? And they still can't fill up the place?
We at the Legend of Cecilio Guante award you negative fan points and may g*d have mercy on your soul. Speaking of a higher power...Go Rockies. Erie's Scribe coming to you with Tribe/Sox preview and more later today.

They haven't sold out - I don't care, I bought tickets (and am now hungry for a New York deli sandwich, thanks) - this team was an illusion all year and people are basically shocked they are still playing. It's a team full of young guys no one can care enough about yet - the D-Backs were brutal the past couple of seasons.
I bet there are more Broncos fans in the stands than D-Backs fans tonight. I don't care, I LOVE playoff baseball!!!
(I haven't been to an NLCS since 1983!!!)
