Curt Schilling Is A Better Hitter Than Julio Lugo

He looked awful at the plate, but Curt Schilling managed a base hit up the middle. He's now batting an all-time high .500 for the season, which would easily rival some of the best hitters ever.
Meanwhile, Julio Lugo continues plummeting to Mendozian lows. His only solace comes in knowing that he probably could have gotten a hit off Schilling Monday night. Schilling didn't even strike anyone out.
The obvious answer* is to have Schilling starting at shortstop on his offnights. He's batting .500, which is 2.5 times what Lugo is batting; he doesn't have any errors; his Zone Rating is 1.000, compared to Lugo's .821; and he's really tall. Makes sense, no? Someone get Tito on the phone and point this out to him. It seems so obvious, which may be why he has missed it.
*Not really.
