Born on September 7, 1903 in Greenfield, Missouri, Curt Davis (Curtis Benton Davis) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 13 year career. Davis broke into the bigs on April 21, 1934 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.95 ERA in 274.1 innings pitched in 1934, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Curt Davis's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1939, when he posted a 3.63 ERA, won 22 games and struck out 70 batters. However, others believe that it was 1934, when he posted a 2.95 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 99 batters.
