Cup Finals Game 2: Dead Team Skating

The Carolina Hurricanes rolled over the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 in Game 2 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals. Rookie goalie Cam Ward had the shut out, which was the first shutout by a rookie goalie in the Stanley Cup Finals since 1986.

The Oilers were playing this game without there star playoff goalie, Dwayne Roloson, who was injured in Game 1. He is not expected to return to play this season.

Game 3 of the Finals will be played in Edmonton.

I still think Edomnton have something to offer... If they win their games on home ice, who knows?

I see them winning Game 3. And, to be honest with you, I am only saying that because I called 5 games for the Canes before the Series started. Oilers are only playing for pride now. They know, deep down, they have no shot of winning 4 games in this series.

It was ugly, and it's been that way since Period 3 of Game 1. I wanted Edmonton to win -- if not to reclaim their old glory -- but it's not happening. I don't know if they can even avoid a sweep at this point. Here's hoping home ice has some magic, but I wouldn't bet on it.
