Cub Stricker (John A. Stricker) was born on June 8, 1859 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on May 2, 1882 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1882, his rookie year, he hit .217 with 0 home runs and 18 RBI. Stricker played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Cleveland Spiders, Cleveland Infants, Boston Reds, St. Louis Perfectos, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Senators over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Cub Stricker's best season was 1887, when he stole 86 bases and knocked in 53 runs.
