Born on February 13, 1866 in Chicago, Illinois, Crazy Schmit (Frederick M. Schmit) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, New York Giants and Cleveland Spiders over the course of his 5 year career. Schmit broke into the bigs on April 21, 1890 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 5.83 ERA in 83.1 innings pitched in 1890, his rookie year.
