Cotton Davidson (Francis Marion Davidson) was born on November 30, 1931 in Gatesville, Texas. After going to high school at Gatesville (TX), Davidson attended Baylor University. Davidson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1954 with the Baltimore Colts. He played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the Baltimore Colts the entire time. Davidson also played in the AFL for 8 years, playing for the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Texans over the course of his 8 year AFL career.

Most people believe that 1964 was Cotton Davidson's best year, as he threw for 2497 yards and tossed 21 TDs.
