Cookie Lavagetto (Harry Arthur Lavagetto) was born on December 1, 1912 in Oakland, California. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1934 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1934, his rookie year, he hit .220 with 3 home runs and 46 RBI. Lavagetto played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Cookie Lavagetto's best season was 1939, when he hit for a .300 average and knocked in 87 runs.
