Welcome to the Contract Corner! We've got a weird one for you today...
===Knicks Sign Randolph Morris Straight Out of Tournament=== Well, Isiah Thomas said that the Knicks would explore more creative ways of player acquisition, and I guess he was right. Fresh out of the University of Kentucky's loss in the NCAA Tournament this weekend, Wildcat center Randolph Morris signed a two-year deal worth $1.6 million with New York.Randolph was available because of a loophole in the draft rules. As a freshman two seasons ago, he declared for the draft but was not chosen, giving him free-agent status. He returned to UK and played his sophomore and junior seasons with said status. He had agreed to wait to decide on whether to return for his senior season until a replacement for Tubby Smith was hired, but he apparently changed his mind. Randolph will join and practice with the Knicks immediately.
===Cowboys add Hamlin to Defensive Backfield=== Giving Roy Williams some much needed help at safety, the Dallas Cowboys signed unrestricted free agent Ken Hamlin to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. Hamlin had played his entire four-year career with the Seattle Seahawks, but sat out all but 6 games of the 2005 season with a severe head injury. Hamlin was a 2nd round pick for Seattle in the 2003 draft. He was also pursued by the New Orleans Saints, who will now have to find another option for help at defensive back.
