After two bad rounds at the Masters finishing at +3, Tiger Woods had a par round today that ended up leading him to making the final paring for tomorrow's final round with current leader Stuart Appleby. Being that Tiger is in the final pairing; it is practically a lock that he will be the 2007 Masters Champion.
Tiger is the most dominant player is sports today. We all know that, but what really makes him so amazing is the betting aspect of his dominance. There is no other bet where you can take one team for a season or one player for a tournament against the field and it would be a fair bet. In fact, in some cases people might want to get some compensation for taking the field against tiger. I find it amazing that someone is so dominant that they are better than all of their competition together.
I was watching Mike & Mike in the morning earlier this week when they were talking to Baseball expert Tim Kurkjian. He said that earlier this week, Tiger took on three Major Leaguers who have a combined handicap of about 5 in a 3 on 1 best ball competition. Guess who won? Tiger, and supposedly by a lot. How is it possible that one guy is better than three players that probably could have worked on their game and gone pro in golf instead of baseball.
Tiger has been able to overcome his father's death, and if all goes well this year, he could pull of a true Grand Slam this season. Last year, his father died shortly before the masters and while he wasn't able to win last year, he was able to win the British Open last year, and in concisive fashion.
The only thing I can possibly see getting in the way of Tiger completing the grand slam this season is the birth of his child. His wife is expected to give birth to their first child sometime around the British open, and Tiger may not be able to compete in it if it's too close to her expected date. If that doesn't interfere, I think that Tiger will complete the Grand Slam.
And, on top of all of that, who can forget Tiger's amazing chip-in at the 2005 Masters:
Now, I issue the world's riskiest challenge to anyone who accepts it. I will write 10 Articles, yes 10, to anyone who wants to take this challenge. The challenge is, of course Tiger vs. the Field. I will take the first 10 people to accept the challenge, or all entries by Noon CST tomorrow. All takers are to leave a comment below, and must be a registered user.
